Day 3

It's Sunday, and the end to a very relaxing weekend. I'm curing the "Sunday Sadies" with a glass of wine and a very past due season of Dexter via Netflix with the husband. Already looking forward to next Friday!

Over the last few years I have begun to collect match books from everywhere we go. It's a convenient reminder of restaurants, bars, etc. that we have been and those that we would like to go back to. This has become increasingly more difficult however with more and more places moving toward non-smoking (don't get me wrong, I think this is great). In some cases toothpicks are substituted for matches which actually just serve to irritate me more....seems like a cheap cover up. But I digress. For this photo I arranged the matchbooks against a black back drop and used a lower aperture (4.8) to blur the background. I boosted the contrast in PS and sharpened the image just a bit.

Awesome. I was starting to get worried that Day 3 might not happen. I really like this photo. It has endless opportunities depending on which matchbook you focus on. Which photoshop do you have? I just got CS4 for work and it's amazing!

Thanks Anna! I ended up liking it too. I was really just trying to avoid going outside so I had to find something creative inside to shoot. I'm using PS CS3. I don't know even a fourth of what it can do yet so I can't imagine CS4....

I would not do that. I like what you have done so far you have a good eye and sense of comp. Some people just have it you might be one of them. Keep them coming.

I'd like this jpg too. Jon mentioned waaaaay back when you first posted it that he though it was really cool. And now he has a great big office with bare walls! So I'll get a print of this done for him to hang up and then some Iowa Hawkeyes piece of junk. LOL
